A Letter to You

My dearest Deepanshu,

There are moments in life where words feel too small — too thin and fragile — to carry the weight of what you feel. This is one of those moments. And yet, I am trying, because you deserve to know.

Today, on our anniversary and your birthday, I want to tell you something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you for choosing me. Thank you for staying beside me through every ordinary day and every extraordinary moment. Thank you for building a life with me that I am proud of, one small decision at a time.

I remember the day you said yes to me. My heart was beating so fast I thought you might hear it. When you smiled and nodded, the whole world rearranged itself. Everything that came before felt like rehearsal, and the real story was just beginning.

And then, this past year, you did something I will never stop marvelling at. You grew a whole person inside you — our Ivaan — and you brought him into the world with a kind of quiet courage that left me in awe. Watching you become a mother has been the greatest honour of my life. You hold him like he is the most precious thing in the universe, because to you, he is. And so is he to me. You both are.

I want you to know that on the hard days — the sleepless nights, the moments of doubt, the days when everything feels heavy — you are still the most beautiful woman I have ever known. Not just because of how you look, but because of who you are. The way you love without conditions. The way you give without expecting anything in return. The way you find light even when things are difficult.

Deepanshu, you are my home. Wherever you are is where I want to be. In thirty years, in fifty years, I hope I am still finding new things to love about you — and I know I will be, because you are endlessly layered and endlessly wonderful.

Happy Birthday, my love. Happy Anniversary. Here is to every year that came before, and every single one still to come.
